He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Broge and Bessie Broge (Tieman); his child Gale Broge; his grandchildren, Jacob Ellis and Shantell Winslow; and his sisters, Virginia Mann and Nelda Straight.

He is survived by: his wife Ursie Price of Freeport, IL; his children, RoseMarie Leiendecker (David "Nick") of Warren, Christine Ellis (Brad) of Snohomish, WA, Eugenia Steffens (Lee) of Shoreview, MN and John Broge (Karoline) of Winslow, IL; his grandchildren, Jerad Bennett (Michelle), Carrie Harris (Mike), Jeanette Dorsey (Mike), Nickolas Bennett (Alex), Ben Ellis (Maranda), Joe Ellis (Annalyn), Jim Ellis (Meghan), Katelyn Washburn (Daniel), Jonathan Steffens (Laura), Jessica Brinkmeier (Dirk), Travis Broge, Amber Hanson (Brady) and Mike Broge; and his siblings, Helen Straight, Allen Broge (Phyllis), LaVerne Broge (Linda) and Norman "Bill" Broge (Mary Ann). He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in his name for the St. John's Friendship Center in Lena, IL.
