She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Helander and Eva Helander (Smith); and her siblings, Harold Helander, Gene Helander, Hollis Lambert and Helen Rundblad.
She is survived by: her sons, Vern Fischer (Sherry Parton) of Lake Elsinor, CA and Richard Fischer (Mary) of Freeport, IL; her sister-in-law Ruth Helander of Texas; and her grandchildren, Willie Fischer (Lauren), Scott Fischer, Michael Fischer, Greg Fischer and Corey Estes. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial has been established in Hazel's memory for the Special Olympics.
