He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Smith and Alice Smith (Hocking). He is survived by : his wife Cheryl; his daughters, Karin Duchow (Jack), Jennifer Smith (Phillip Platt) and Nicole Goldberg (Brett); his grandchildren, Jackson, Emelia Duchow, Kyla Taylor, Alyson, Molly Shook, Juliet and Noah Goldberg; his niece Marci Millerschone (Greg); and his sister-in-law Debbie Parks (Eddie).

Donations can be made in his memory to Freeport Area Church Cooperative Homeless Shelter.
