We announce the death of Joanne K. Kerchner of Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on July 11, 2026, at the age of 83. Joanne will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Hill and Elsie Hill (Schmid); her former husband Lynn LaMont; and her daughters, Kathryn, Rebecca and Cynthia LaMont.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Kerchner; her siblings, Marilyn Holtum (Ed), Diane Wheelock (Steve) and John Hill (Glenna); her stepsons, Jeff (Robin), Todd (Teresa) and Mike Kerchner; her nieces and nephews, Rachel Gruenwold (Jim), Beth Fox (Dan), Sarah Helm (Mark), Brian Wheelock, Kevin Wheelock, Brad Wheelock (Jill), Douglas Hill (Shannon Stewart), Lucas Hill, Jennifer Praus and Jeniffer Smutzer (Brad); her grandsons, Ryan and Brandon Welty; her stepgrandchildren, Adam, Ethan, Alec, Wyatt Kerchner, Paige Farrar (Zach) and Shauna Kerchner; and her great grandchildren, Lillian, Mia and Charlotte Welty.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Alzheimer's research.
