He was predeceased by: his mother Naomi Howard; his son Leonard Howard Jr.; and his siblings, Dwayne Howard, Debra Howard and Patricia Joyce.

He is survived by: his sons, Gary Howard of Chicago and Deandre Parker (Amanda Wenger) of Freeport; his stepchildren, Myron Collins (Brittany) of Indianapolis, IN and Laquita Collins of Chicago; and his siblings, Jerry Howard (Audrey) of Freeport, Christine Howard of Chicago, Beverly Howard of Freeport and Regina Howard of Chicago. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
