It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Martha Maria Awender of Freeport, Illinois, born in Vienna, Illinois, who passed away on December 27, 2021, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Karl Stary and Maria Stary (Lokay); her parents-in-law, Dr. Jakob and Eva Awender; her sister Gertrude Ertl; her brothers-in-law, Dr. Herbert Awender and Dr. Erich Awender; her nephew Ralph Awender; and her sister-in-law Adelheid Awender.

She is survived by: her husband Dr. Helmut Awender of Freeport, IL; her brother Christof Stary (Johanna) of Germany; her children, Martha Rosc (Anton) of Freeport, IL, Dr. Reinhardt Awender (Mary) of Freeport, IL, Dr. Erich Awender (Carolyn) of Freeport, IL and Christine Awender of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Anthony Rosc (Danielle) of Pasadena, CA, Christina Pilz (Christian) of Vienna, Austria, Angela Reeter (Andrew) of Freeport, IL, Alexander Rosc of Chicago, IL, Reinhardt Awender (Dana) of Freeport, IL, Jakob Awender (Catherine) of Crystal Lake, IL, Maria Lawton (Cort) of Crystal Lake, IL, Erich Awender of McHenry, IL, Ana Awender of Freeport, IL, Katya Awender of Chicago, IL and Adam Awender of Freeport, IL; and her great grandchildren, Vanessa Pilz, Teo Pilz, Nora Awender, Mac Lawton and Kane Lawton.
