He was predeceased by : his father Thomas J. Shellhorn; and his grandparents, William "Sonny", Harriet Shellhorn, David and Beatrice Benson.

He is survived by : his mother Lynn M. Shellhorn (Benson) of Galena; his children, Kelsey and Reid Shellhorn; his siblings, Scott Shellhorn (Amber), Heather Steines (Dan) and Denise Cornille (Mark); and his brother-in-law Dan Steines. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles; cousins, nieces and nephews.

While the country was battling COVID-19 and its effects in 2020, Todd was featured in a local TV news segment on local healthcare workers who shared their journey of dealing with the frontline battle of COVID-19.
