In the vast expanse of eternity, Clara shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Clara farewell, her loved ones carry with them the precious gift of her memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Orrin P. Abbott and Hannah M. Abbott (Doyle); and her husband Richard B. Stokes. She is survived by: her son Howard Stokes of Burlington, IA; her grandchildren, Johnnie Thomson (Carl) of Mediapolis, IA and Heidi Buster (Chris) of Ft. Madison, IA; and her sister Connie Emery of Galesburg, IL.. She is also survived by several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calendar McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory (1007 North G Street, Monmouth, IL 61462). A funeral service was held on Thursday, July 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials can be made to the Clara Abbott Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.
