She was predeceased by: her parents, Ross E. Hartzell and Juanita Hartzell (Hanson); her former husband John W. Johnson; her husband Fred H. McCarthy; her son James Johnson; her daughter-in-law Stephanie Johnson; and her sister Mary Jane Lundeen.
She is survived by: her son Daniel Johnson of Coal Valley. She is also survived by two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
