He was predeceased by: his parents, Bennett Edward and Angeline Jeannette Hess (DuFrain); and his sisters, Marilyn Berg and Marlene Randales. He is survived by: his wife Marianne Loree Wight of Galesburg; his children, Rhianna Lewis (Patrick) of Dahinda, David Hess (Amy) of Hartland, Brionna Wight and Shea Wight of Chicago, Illinois.; his grandchildren, Camden, Carson, Preston Schroeder, Olivia and Kolby Hess; his sister Sandra Sollers of Bradley, Illinois; and his siblings-in-law, Leland Wight (Connie), Dennis Wight (Denise) and Tina Wight. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Gary's memory to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.
