He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward E. Stephenson and Florence Stephenson (Augustson); his wife Nadine Norae Brown; his brother William (Bill); and his sister-in-law Jane.

He is survived by: his children, Nancy S. Carroll (Brian) of Evansville and Peter M. Stephenson (Kimberley) of Smithfield, Virginia.; and his grandchildren, Benjamin Carroll of San Antonio, Texas, Sean Carroll of Atlanta, Georgia, Seb Stephenson (Ian) of Norfolk, Virginia, Morgan House (Mike) of Smithfield, Virginia and Andrew Stephenson of Smithfield, Virginia.. He is also survived by several loving cousins, nieces and nephews, wonderful neighbors and dear friends.

Memorial contributions in honor of George may be made to the Galesburg Public Library Foundation or the First Presbyterian Church of Galesburg.
