He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Lester and Mable Lucy Purchase (Courtney); his wife Marlene F. Hornbaker; his children, Terry Lee Purchase and Diana "Diny" Purchase Vogel; and his siblings, Raymond Purchase, Donald Purchase and Maralyn "Joan" Singleton.

He is survived by: his daughter Rebecca "Becky" F. Hannam (Mark) of Galesburg; his sister Mary Larson of Geneseo, Illinois; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Hornbaker of Prairie City and Kate Havens of Prairie City; and his grandchildren, Sara Zaro (Logan), Bobbie Amburgey (Chris), Ben Hannam (Ashley), Jake Hannam, Olivia Vogel and Anna Vogel (Clint). He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
