He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Victor and Grace Inness (Metcalf); his brother George I. Inness; his aunt Eleanor Meith; his brother-in-law George Muck; and his nephew Ron Ramos.

He is survived by: his former wife Linda Black; his wife Monica of Galesburg; his children, Jennifer L. Inness, Carrie Jane Inness Ringer of Mt. Zion, David A. Inness (Doris) of Glendale and Amy J. Inness Steck (James) of Decatur, Illinois.; his grandchildren, MacKenzie Steck, Harrison Steck, Corbin Steck, Drew Inness, Dustin Inness, Amber Webster (Inness) and Sophie Ringer; his great grandchild Elijah "Eli" Inness; his stepson Ronnie Van Fleet of Bettendorf; his siblings, Richard Inness (Pam) of Galesburg, Joanne Muck of Rockford and Jane Youngquist of Galesburg; and his sister-in-law Marcy Inness of Galesburg. He is also survived by several nieces, and nephews, along with great nieces and nephews.
