He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Thurston and Hazel Thurston Sr. (Hall); his wife Eva L. Boyce; his granddaughter Ashley Thurston; and his siblings, Doris Stevenson, Shirley Wilmes, Mary Grammer, Ruby Bass and Kenneth Thurston.
He is survived by: his children, Pam Konstanty (Steve) of Galva, Philip Thurston (Sharon) of Rio, Donald Thurston of Galesburg and Dwayne Thurston (Michele) of Sheffield; his grandchildren, Julie Forsythe (Chuck), Fayth Schiltz (Nathan), Jenni Coan (Jared), Lisa Larimer (Jeremy), Shawn, Chris, Ryan Thurston, Eric Thurston (Melinda) and Emily O'Neill (Patrick); Harley, Lita, Erin, Mackenzie, Xavier Cameron (Mykenzie), Shane, Olivia, Peyton, Raelynn and Archer.
Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Galva or the First Presbyterian Church.
