He was predeceased by: his father Theodore "Ted" Lee; and his grandparents, Charles, Mary Walker, Richard and Emma Hortenstine.

He is survived by: his mother Annetta May Hortenstine (Walker) of Gays, IL; his children, Nicholas Hortenstine (Lauren) of Decatur, IL, Nathan Hortenstine (Brooke Plotner) of Champaign, IL and Emmalee Hortenstine of Mount Zion, IL; his grandchildren, Theo and Rory Hortenstine of Decatur, IL; and his siblings, Andrea Workman (Mel) of Neoga, IL, Jennifer Grohler (Kent) of Sullivan, IL and Andrew Hortenstine of Herrick, IL.. He is also survived by golden retriever, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and dear friends.
