He was predeceased by: his parents, William R. Nelson and Effie A. Nelson (Liggett); his wife Eyvonne Dickey; his son-in-law Al Gartin; his granddaughter Lauren A. Hall; and his sisters, Alice Reed and Carol Sears.
He is survived by: his children, Robert Nelson (Ellen) of Geneseo, IL, Lisa Gentry (Mitch) of Atkinson, IL and Ulanda Gartin of Geneseo, IL; his great grandchildren, Krista, Joel Neave, Cora, Ember, Mila of Sheboygan, Katie Nelson (Nick Shreffler), Madison, Logan, Kaleena Gentry, Meyers, Sloane of Payson, Shawn Hall, Riley, Randi Reeves, Camden, Parker of Geneseo, Taylan, Justin Blaser, Bentley and Woodsyn; and his sister Joyce Hemmingson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Atkinson Fire and Rescue and Rebuilding Together.
