It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Merle Riley of Geneseo, Illinois, who passed away on May 16, 2026, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Riley and Lorraine Riley (Warren); his wife Betty DeGroot; his son David Riley; and his brother Roger Riley.
He is survived by: his children, Thelma Wulf (Alan) of Davenport, IA and Pat Drescher (Bob); his daughter-in-law Pam Riley; his sister Geneva Smith (Bill) of Maples Mill, IL; his sisters-in-law, Lillian DeGroot of Jacksonville, IL, Donna DeGroot of Farmington, IL and Helen Riley of Pekin, IL; and his grandchildren, Stacy Pontillas, Brian Wulf (Lisa), Gregory Wulf (Elicia), Heather Henry (Rob), Brook Dalmasso (Marc), Trevis Riley (Kerry) and Tasha Meza. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hillcrest Home or Woodridge.
