He was predeceased by: his wife Nina Anne Herdes; his parents, Bernard Herdes and Vida Herdes; his great grandchild Micah Ringland; and his sister Lois Brown.
He is survived by: his daughters, Pam Matthews (Ron) of Austin and Deb Ringland (Dave) of Metamora, IL.; his grandchildren, Adina Gillespie (Steve), Brent Ringland (Paula), Berry Matthews and Margaret Matthews; and his great grandchildren, James Gillespie (Catrina McCoy) and Nicholas Gillespie (Johanna).
