She was predeceased by: her parents, John Hornyak and Beatrice Hornyak (Jones); her daughter Laura Alexander; her siblings, Lois Beach and John Hornyak Jr.; and her husband Dr. Robert W. Alexander.

She is survived by: her children, Melissa Harrington of Montgomery, Holly Zick (Steve) of Sugar Grove and John Alexander; her grandchild Dorrie Marshall (Cale); and her children, Ashley Naill (John), Lauren Chapman (Mike), Jarrod Harrington (Kelly), Starr Harrington and Alexis Nelson. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to The American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
