We announce the death of Richard Wistar of Gilberts, Illinois, born in Palatine, Illinois, who passed away on August 19, 2026, at the age of 80. Richard will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Richard’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, David Wistar and Betty Wistar. He is survived by: his wife Clairan Wistar; his children, Richard A. Wistar and Rochelle C. Wistar; his grandson Benjamin David Wistar; and his brothers, Tom Wistar (Christy) and David Wistar (late Lynn). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and cherished friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Dundee (900 S 8th St, West Dundee, IL 60118). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, August 25th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, August 26th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery (230 W State St, Sycamore, IL 60178).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Richard's name and memory to the American Heart Association.
