He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hicks and Mary Lou Hicks (Nolen); his sister Connie Hicks; his half-siblings, Larry Hicks and Sonja Cloninger; and his siblings-in-law, Sharon Hicks, Sharon Bettis, Ed Duke, Frank Becker, Steven King and Rick Bettis.
He is survived by: his wife Cathy; his children, Derek Hicks of Glen Carbon and Ashley Hicks (Anthony Petralia) of St. Louis; his brothers, Jim Hicks of Collinsville, Dennis Hicks of Tampa and Mike (Sonya Hicks); his half-sister Betty McCormick of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; and his sisters-in-law, Karen Becker of Wildwood, Janet King of Alton and Nancy Duke of Granite City. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; other extended family; and many dear friends.
A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Irwin Chapel (591 Glen Crossing Rd, Glen Carbon, IL 62034). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Irwin Chapel Funeral Home (591 Glen Crossing Rd, Glen Carbon, IL 62034).
