We bid farewell to Honora M. Blackwell of Granite City, Illinois, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on August 21, 2025 at the age of 83. Honora touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her husband Elbert D. Blackwell; her parents, Alice Dickerson and Jack Dickerson; her brothers, Tommy Giller and Bart Dickerson; and her nephew Joshua Dickerson.
She is survived by: her children, Andrew Blackwell (Jill), Laura VanZandt (Steven) and Trish Wells (Nelson); her grandchildren, Lars VanZandt, Elliott VanZandt (Rae), Brooke Wong (Tim), Nelson Wells (Leah), Taylor Smith (Nicholas) and Dalton Wells (Trinity); her pets, Bella, Penny and Sampson; her great grandchildren, Sage, Lizzy, Ellie, Yarrow, Jane, Nelson 3rd and Nicholas; and her siblings, Robin Davis, Russell Dickerson (Teri), Sharon Freeman, Jackie File, Joe Dickerson (Janeen), Gloria Durbin (Steve), Kevin Dickerson (Shonna), Janice Simburger (Kevin) and Donna Thorn (Don).
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Sunset Hill Funeral, Cemetery & Cremation Services (50 Fountain Dr, Glen Carbon, IL 62034). A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 29th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
