With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Janet H. Blackwell of Granite City, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 6, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harold Mefford and Lula Mefford (Singer); her daughter Andrea Blackwell; and her siblings, Phillie Mefford and Ruth Laswell.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tanya Chester (Paul, Sr.) of Black, Christine Haislip (Steve Galiher) of Granite City, Illinois and Renee Blackwell (Erron White) of Granite City, Illinois; and her grandchildren, John Stewart (Ashlee Brandt), Miranda Schragg (Gavin), Garrett Haislip (Rebecca Bazzell), Madalyn Haislip, Connor Haislip, Emma White and Paul W. Chester, Jr.. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Irwin Chapel (3960 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 12th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
