He was predeceased by: his parents, Froddie Cathey and Minnie Cathey (Lancaster); his wife Jean Ann Cathey; his son Rod Cathey; and his siblings, Harvey, Macie, Margaret, Darlene, Helen and Mary.
He is survived by: his son Donnie Wayne Cathey Sr. of Granite City; his grandchildren, Deja Cathey and Donnie Wayne Cathey Jr. (Ariel Jackson); and his great grandchildren, Hannah, Donnie III, Jonah, Goddess, Lincoln and Legand.
