It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Cuvar Jr. of Granite City, Illinois, who passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cuvar and Margaret Cuvar Sr. (Oros); his wife Thelma Cuvar (Heaton); his children, Dennis Michael Cuvar and Kathleen Sands; and his siblings, Steve Cuvar, Philip Cuvar and Joan McCracken.
He is survived by: his sister Jeanette Pinkston of Granite City; his children-in-law, Schelly Ehrhart (Lawrence) of St. Louis and Johnny Sands (Mary) of Granite City; his grandchildren, Shannon Cuvar, Amanda Hedge (Kenneth), Benjamin Cuvar and Daniel Sands; and his great grandchildren, Michael Hedge and Dennis Hedge. He is also survived by other extended family members and many friends.
