It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Robert Gene Jones of Granite City, Illinois, who passed away on September 26, 2025, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Albert and Nettie Alice Jones (Charles); his wife Esther "Louise" Jones (Ballard); his son Dennis H. Jones; and his siblings, Lucille, Leslie, Larston, Everett, Ruth, Goldie, Merle, Bethel, Donald, Vernon, Harold, James and Ike.
He is survived by: his daughter Joni; his son-in-law Scott McCormick of Alton; his grandsons, Christopher (Marissa Fraley) of Glen Carbon and Justin (Vanessa Fraley) of Dow; and his great grandchildren, Camden and Ilse Fraley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; other extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Irwin Chapel (3960 Maryville Rd, Granite City, IL 62040). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of his wife or to The Wounded Warrior Project and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.
