He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Carl Kays Sr. and Corlinda Bernice Kays (Tisdal); and his siblings, Bertha Mae Donahue (Kays), Walter Kays Jr., Anna Pearl Johnson (Kays), Jerry Kays, Shirley Massey (Kays) and Rosetta Zinc (Kays).
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Ashlyn Paige Yoakum (Kays) of Terre Haute and Abbie Leigh Gilliland (Kays) of San Diego; his wife Sharon Kay Kays of Granite City, Illinois; and his sons, Ronald Allen Kays of Collinsville and James Aaron Kays of Granite City, Illinois. He is also survived by granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to City Temple in Granite City, IL.
