He is survived by: his children, Rhonda Brendel (Steven) of Grantfork, IL, Kurt Gruner (Kathy) of Grantfork, IL and Karl Gruner (Kristy) of Grantfork, IL; his grandchildren, Chelsey Alldredge (Dustin) of Marine, IL, Shea Brendel (Jasmine) of Antioch, Kayla Braun (Kirk), Kara Timmermann (Bryton) of Breese, IL, Megan Harper (Michael) and Derek Gruner of Grantfork, IL; his great grandchildren, Alyssa, Brody Alldredge of Marine, IL, Payton, Emerson, Raegan, Wesley Braun of St. Louis, MO, Wrenley, Kade Timmermann of Breese, IL, Naomi, Eliza, Clara Harper of St. Rose, IL and Baby Boy Brendel; and his sister-in-law Ruth Miles. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Grantfork United Church-Christ (206 S Locust St, Highland, IL 62249). A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Grantfork United Church of Christ (206 S Locust St, Highland, IL 62249). A burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at the Brown Cemetery Brown Cemetery.
The family requests that instead of flowers, plants, and other decorations, memorial donations be made to the Grantfork UCC, the Grantfork Volunteer Fire Department, or to Backstoppers, Inc., for Police and First Responders.
