He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Jeree; and his siblings, Edward and Margaret. He is survived by: his children, David (Linda Tigert), Susan (Mark Ehrlich) and James (Michele Arnold-Matyus); his nieces, Joni Matyus Modaff (Christopher) and Sharon Matyus Leal (Julian); and his godson Dan Matyus.
