It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura Lee Variny of Grayslake, Illinois, who passed away on February 11, 2026, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gus Sandahl and Della Sandahl; her husband Frank Variny; and her sisters, JoAnn Fabian (Robert) and Dolores Cervi (Orlando).
She is survived by: her children, Charles Vance (Kathy) of Waupaca, WI, Laurie Gow (Stewart) of Crystal Lake, Danielle Smith (Darrin) of Pleasant Prairie, WI and Steven Vance (Mikki) of Crystal Lake; her grandchildren, AJ Gumino (Jessica), Nicole Gumino, Kimmie Gumino, Frankie Gumino, Matt Gow (Denise), Andy Gow, Kelsey Gow, Sarah Gow, Devin Smith, Matthew Smith, Tyler Vance, Cassidy Devine and Connor Devine; her great grandchildren, Ames, Natalie, Bonnie, Maelea, Francis, Johnny, Lily and Alessia; and her sister Donna Camacho (John). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
