He was predeceased by: his parents, Fritz Barthel and Margarete Adamczewski-Weis. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his children, Reinhard Barthel Jr. (Jina Pendry) and Simone Szulc-Cieplicki (Szczepan); his grandchildren, Nicole Miller (Jeff) and Marc Szulc-Cieplicki; his brother Gerd Barthel (Gabi); Roland Barthel and Rainer Barthel.

The family is planning a celebration of Reinhard Sr.'s life in June, when it can be held outdoors and when the COVID-19 restrictions have eased.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a contribution to support the cancer research of Dr. Ken Pienta at the Johns Hopkins Brady Urological Institute.
