He is survived by: his wife Julie; his children, Michael Buenzow, Christopher Williams (Carly), Mitchell Buenzow and Jacqueline Owens (Mike); his siblings, Kristena Potratz (Chad), Buzz Buenzow (Annie) and Bill Aasberg (Craig); and his granddaughter Caroline.

Memorials may be directed to H.U.G.S. of Hancock County or the Hope Lodge of Iowa City.
