He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Hicks and Beulah Mae Hicks (Sheldon); his siblings, Betty Ann Bishop, Ted Hicks, Randall Hicks, Lyndol Hicks and Gertrude Davidson; and his close friend Teresa Lively.
He is survived by: his children, Tamela "Tami" Ward (Eran) of Carrier Mills, Illinois and Justin Hicks of Harrisburg, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kaleb Ward (Aubrey) of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Cole Ward (Caitlyn) of Carrier Mills, Illinois and Jude Hicks of Norris City, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Parker, Cyleigh, Wheeler, Kodi and Cade Ward; his sisters, Opal Gibbs of Alton, Illinois and Joy Wilson of Harrisburg, Illinois; and his sister-in-law Carol Hicks of Harrisburg, Illinois. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Stricklin Funeral Home (503 E Sloan St, Harrisburg, IL 62946). A memorial service was held on Friday, August 28th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
