He is survived by: his wife Kay Ackerman of Harrisburg, Illinois; his daughter Sherry Whisonant (Robin) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his sister Jeain Werner (Mike) of Reston, Virginia; and his nieces and nephews, Jason, Jared, Allison, Heidie, Art and Christopher.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Stricklin Funeral Home (503 E Sloan St, Harrisburg, IL 62946). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Ia Drang Scholarship Fund and will be received at the funeral home.
