He was predeceased by: his parents, Hans Johnson and Irene Johnson (Fitzl); his daughter Laura Melms; and his siblings, Harold Johnson (Jeanette), Nancy Mercado and Carol Ballard.
He is survived by: his wife Alice Smith of Mary's Catholic Church; his daughters, Dawn Nelson (Dan) and Jodi Reins; his grandchildren, Emilee Reins, Ashley Reins, Bekah Reins, Grant Melms (Jessica), Madison Puntney (Cody), Nick Nelson (Jori) and Cody Nelson (Brooklyn Hilton); his great grandchildren, Olivia, Gabe Moors, Zaevyn Evans, Nevaeh, Mari Torres, Myla, Rudy Melms, Laura Puntney and Kendall Nelson; and his sisters, Elaine Johnson and Linda Lewis (late Kendall). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
