She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Edmond Russell Ahearn and Marie Gotch Ahearn; her husband Pete Benda; her siblings, Bill Ahearn (Marlain) and Mary Jane Lovins (Brad); her children, Scotty Benda (Carol), Jill Countie (Matt) and Brian Benda (Marci); her grandchildren, Gabrielle Benda, Gentry Benda (Jordan), Will Countie (Jordan), Grace Countie, Kyle Countie, Caroline Benda and Meghan Benda; her stepgrandchildren, Jack English and Anna Wistead; and her stepgreat-grandchild Harper Wistead. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 10:30 AM at 1500 Sawmill Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the North Raleigh United Methodist Church (8501 Honeycutt Rd, Raleigh, NC 27615). A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 15th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Ashe County Arts Council (303 School Ave, West Jefferson, NC 28694).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Springmoor Endowment Fund and/or Transitions Life Care, both of which provided great care for Judy in her time of need.
