It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Donny Smith of Herrin, Illinois, born in Johnston City, Illinois, who passed away on August 3, 2023, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by : his parents, Andrew Smith and Pearl Smith (Orange); his son Rickey Smith; and his siblings, Edna McWaters, Lavern Ferlong, Harry Smith, Alfred Smith and Richerd Smith.

He is survived by : his spouse Shirley Jean (McPheron); his daughter Vickey Anderson (David) of Herrin; his grandchildren, Matt Smith (Maddie), Chase Anderson (Andrea) and Scott Anderson (Morgan Waters); his great grandchildren, Avah Anderson, Kinley Anderson, Brentlee Anderson, Maelyn Smith, Tytus Anderson, Maddi Griffin and Brayden Knight; and his brother-in-law Larry McPheron (Kathy). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children.
