He was predeceased by: his parents, John Chapman and Dorothy Chapman (Young); his grandparents, Grace and Harvey Young; and his aunts and uncles, Raymond, Cardell, Delbert, Leonard, Irene, Margaret and Agnes.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Lane (Brown); his children, Stephen Raymond Lane (Jeffrey Hanlin) of Saint Louis and Beth Young (Brent) of Buckner, Illinois; his grandchildren, Courtney Young of Buckner, Callie Young of O'Fallon, Carley Young of Saint Louis, Missouri and Chelsea Young of Saint Louis, Missouri; his sister Barbara Taylor (Bill) of West Frankfort, Illinois; and his niece Debbie Wright of Macedonia, Illinois.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hughey Funeral Home (1314 Main St, Mt Vernon, IL 62864). A graveside service was held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the Kirk Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
