He was predeceased by: his parents, William McDevitt and Helen McDevitt; his siblings, William McDevitt (Donna), Oliver "Bud" McDevitt (Ellen), Larry McDevitt (Liz), Dorothy MacDicken and Wilma Freestone; his foster parents, Bill Moon and Mary Moon; his foster sister Paula Spurgeon; and his siblings-in-law, Sister Anne Lawrence Buchmiller and Greg Buchmiller.
He is survived by: his wife Marylin McDevitt; his children, Denise Schoen (Jim), Jeff McDevitt (Mary) and Julie McDevitt; his grandchildren, Erin Rodgers (Greg), Alex McDevitt (Taylor) and Jessica Simmons (Jacob); his great grandchildren, Gigi and Demi Rodgers; his foster brother Larry Moon (Connie); and his sister-in-law Karen Rossi. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Meridith Funeral Home (1223 Broadway, Highland, IL 62249). A Mass will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Catholic Church (1411 Main St, Highland, IL 62249).
