It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lonnie E. Stone of Highland, Illinois, who passed away on January 29, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Loren E. Stone and Edna J. Stone; his wife Marilyn Stone of Granite City, IL; his daughter Dawn Fischer; his stepson Keith Smiddy; his granddaughter Kimura Halbrook; and his sister Patsy Canimore.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Stone of Antioch, TN and Robin Zeller (Tim) of Highland, IL; and his stepchildren, Mark Smiddy (Janet) of Granite City, IL, Greg Smiddy (Debbie) of Scottsville, KY and Shelly Halbrook (Jerry) of Granite City, IL. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Parkinson's Foundation, or Metro East Humane Society.
