He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold, Sr. Hilmes and Christine Hilmes; and his siblings, Mary Ann Brown (Dennis), Raymond Hilmes, Al Hilmes and Irene Hilmes.
He is survived by: his brother Arnold "Jay" Hilmes, Jr.; his sister-in-law Joyce Hilmes; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Byron Hilmes, Shannon Hilmes, Brandon Hilmes (Deb) and Sharon Ramsey (Steve).
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to Son of American Legion Post 778 or Highland Coonhunters (Youth) and will be received by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th Street, Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
