It is with sadness that the passing of Selma M. Warnecke of Highland, Illinois is shared. Selma, born on December 16, 1921, passed away on August 31, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Metzger and Augusta Metzger; her spouse Eldo Warnecke; her brothers, Calvin Metzger (Edith), Henry Metzger and Elmer Metzger (Betty); her parents-in-law, Albert and Elizabeth Metzger; and her siblings-in-law, Duane Warnecke, Lester Warnecke, Leona Foehner, Elvin Warnecke, Edna Frey, Lloyd Warnecke, Vernon Warnecke and Earl Warnecke.
She is survived by: her children, Gary Warnecke (Lulia) of Manchester, MO and Carol Schwend (Gary) of Trenton; and her grandchildren, Jason Warnecke (Michelle), Shana Bailey (Chris), Shelley LaCaze, Stephanie Morietta (Bob), Ethan, Noah Warnecke, Charlie, Katherine Bailey, Ella, Maddox LaCaze and Keegan Schroedter.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Evangelical United Church of Christ (2520 Poplar St, Highland, IL 62249). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, plants, or other gifts, memorials may be made to Evangelical United Church of Christ or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 1501 9th St., Highland, IL 62249, which is serving the family.
