He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Komes and Louise Komes (Baumann); his siblings, Judy Runge, Jane Wood and Doug Komes; and his parents-in-law, Fred and Louise Runge.

He is survived by: his wife Sandra Mae Runge; his children, Rhonda Oker (Tom), Teri Gurchiek (John), Chris Komes (Stephanie), Amanda Komes-Leifheit (Jon Yeater) and Abigail Michels (Tony); his grandchildren, Madeline Gurchiek, Benjamin, Margaret Komes, Lydia Oker, William and Mallory Leifheit; his great grandchildren, Camden and Avery; his brother Don Komes (Sheree); and his siblings-in-law, Fred Runge and Linda Babcock.
