He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bea Conner, Jack Gillis (late Joan), Jerome "Dutch" Gillis (late Judy), Mary Smuda (late Jerry) and Terry Dorweiler (late Rudy).

He is survived by: his wife Bette Gillis; his children, Laura Seifert (Brian) and Michael Gillis (Lauren); his grandchildren, Emma, John, Molly, Aiden, Claire, Gwendolyn and Alasdair; and his sister Barb Callstrom (Allen).
