He was predeceased by: his parents, Manuel Cardenas and Rosa Maria Vargas; and his son Jaime A. Cardenas, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Edelyn; his children, Angelica, Daniel and Allison Cardenas; his grandchild Yuriana Rivas; and his siblings, Alexander Vargas, Sylvia (Carlos Escobar), Augustine Vargas, Manuel (Pauline Cardenas) and Laura (Alex Gallardo). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name in the care of his family.
