He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Copen and Rhoda Copen; and his sister Connie Kinzler (Jim). He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Copen; his children, Robin Ward (Dustin Hulbert) and Kelly Tallarita (Chris); his grandchildren, Hannah Cobb, Iris Cobb, Lana Cobb, Zander Ward, Ethan Ward and Ava Tallarita; his siblings, Ronald Copen, Ramond Copen and Christine Copen; and his pet Bella.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kurtz Memorial Chapel (102 East Francis Road, New Lenox, IL 60451). A prayer will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 10:15 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (201 S Briggs St, Joliet, IL 60433). A burial will be held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
