He was predeceased by: his parents, Thorvald L. Nielsen and Erna Nielsen; his siblings, George Nielsen and Helen Ehlbracht; and his son Michael T. L. Nielsen.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Nielsen; his daughters, Peggy Nielsen Riley (John) of Flossmoor and Janice Nielsen Boyd (David L. Boyd) of Homewood; his grandchildren, Kimberley Riley, Michael Ordman of Orland Park, Megan Riley, Ray Morandi of Orland Park, Brian Riley, Alix Guren Riley of Frankfort, Nicole Boyd Pettineo, Scott Pettineo, Jordan Boyd, Jeff Panozzo and David M. Boyd; and his great grandchildren, Kinsley, Michael, John Ordman, Lucca, Taylan, Mia Morandi, Graeme, Reagan, Reed Riley, Weston, Austin and Hayden Pettineo.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Tews-Ryan Funeral Home (18230 Dixie Hwy, Homewood, IL 60430). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 16th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:15 PM at the same location.
