We announce the death of Joann A. Johns of Hoopeston, Illinois, who passed away on September 11, 2026, at the age of 88. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Benjamin and Anna Gudeman (Gschwind); her husband Charles Sidney Johns; her stepdaughters, Sandra LaFrance and Pamela Okeli; her brothers, William, Earl, Melvin and Marvin Gudeman; and her granddaughter April Erickson.
She is survived by: her children, Paula Paxton (Tim) of Hoopeston, IL, Sheila Abbott (Keith) of Urbana, IL, Darla Nooyan (Brian) of Green Bay, WI, Pamela Young of Green Bay, WI, Kevin Young (Kim) of St. Joseph, IL and Keith Young (Jeannie) of Rankin, IL; and her brother Donald Gudeman of Phoenix, AZ. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home (427 E Main St, Hoopeston, IL 60942). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Joann to the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene, 402 E. Honeywell Ave., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
