He was predeceased by: his wife Loretta J. Joniak; and his parents, Edward Joniak and Sybil Joniak. He is survived by: his children, Ronald R. (Jennifer), Jeffery (Mary Grace), James Joniak (Tracey) and Jennifer Strybel (Michael); his grandchildren, Ronnie (Adriana), Jeremy (Kristen), Taylor, Jeffery Joniak, Lauren and Brian Strybel; and his great grandchild Euphemia.

“I only just learned of the passing of Ron. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ron's family. Some time earlier I tried and failed to reach Ron to talk about old times. Ron and I worked together at Lundell Controls. We did pioneering work together on a control panel for a portable small nuclear reactor that eventually was shipped to a South Pole research station. My wife and I saw Ron and team play softball at a Matteson ballfield and saw Ron blast a home run! I miss the guy, bless him.”
