He was predeceased by: his parents, James Chalmers and Lydia Harriet (Jones); his wife Dorothy Coleman DeGroot-Fearno; his stepsons, Wayne DeGroot and Steven DeGroot; and his siblings, Major Joseph B. Fearno and Juanita Grinstead (Bill).

He is survived by: his sons, Duane Alan Fearno (Diane) and Kevin Leon Fearno (Kristi); his granddaughters, Sierra Mussman and Bailey Fearno; his stepson Gerald DeGroot; his stepgrandsons, Jared DeGroot (Tacy) and Jaden DeGroot; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Mia Yamada and Hylan DeGroot; his sisters, Betty Edmisson, Patricia Nelson and Elaine Reid; and his nieces and nephews, Virginia McNitt (George), Jack Edmisson Jr. (Nancy), Karen Baris (Steven), Cindy Unrynowyz (Stephen), Judy Lemon (Rick), Jerry Grinstead (Sherry), Janell Webster (Lance), Tushaun Portenier (Clayton) and Christopher Reid (Rebecca).
